British Gas: +15% gas, +15% electricity

Effective date: Friday, January 18th 2008

British Gas today announced price increases of 15% for customers supplied through the company's standard gas and electricity tariff, with immediate effect.

Customers of British Gas' standard tariff are advised to switch to British Gas' retention offer 'ClickEnergy4', which is unaffected by the price hike. Switching to the tariff will allow customers to bypass the price increase on the standard tariff as the change in tariff is backdated to the date the application was made to British Gas. This British Gas retention tariff is available from this service now.

British Gas customers can then review the market in a matter of weeks, when suppliers that have not yet changed their prices (at this point EDF, npower and British Gas have announced price increases in January 2008)

British Gas tariffs on this service are up to date.
